Material/Technique: two channel Video installation(18:29 min each channel), Sound, the artists childhood clothes, photographs of the artists wearing the clothes as a child, overlaid with a transparency of the artist wearing the clothes as an adult
Description:
“In the eyes of our parents we always stay children”, but growing out of childhood clothes closes a certain door forever. As I have never really grown out of my childhood clothes I am left with an ambiguity in my identity. Squeezing my adult body into small dresses and shirts accentuates this uncertainty, as mismatched adult body parts subvert the childhood innocence of the outfits. Hoax further disassociates the body parts and identity, breaking the whole into isolated fragments for examination.
