Welcome to

DAS FERNGLAS

At the end of February 2021 I launched a new digital subscription based curatorial project called "Das Fernglas" (the faraway glass- a German word meaning binoculars). Subscribing and receiving the work is free.

The project is a monthly, subscription based digital glass project created for the email format. For each edition one invited artist will create a piece for the subscriber's inbox.
The idea is simple. By scrolling through the email a story is told in pictures, words, gifs or videos using the medium of glass. Its is a digital postcard and a way to discover artists you don't know, to give artists the chance to make something that is not scrutinized in the same way our work usually is.

Each invited artist will get an assigned month for which to create the piece. It is a way to have a showcase of art using the medium of glass that truly has an international audience and participants. I have been thinking about this project for a while, but never had time to realize it. But now, almost a year into the pandemic with another half a year to come it is a good time to be able to share work, create playful, weird, experimental and personal projects that neither have to be shipped nor packed, nor can be postponed or canceled by the pandemic. It will involve artists in all stages of their career without any requirement other than that they are interested in sharing their work with an audience and like to work digitally.
It is a challenge to involve a medium and material into the digital format and I am excited to see how the artists take on the challenge.

Go to the Sign up page and sign up for Free to enjoy art being delivered to your inbox.
Please keep checking in for more updates to follow soon and meanwhile check out the personal websites of the participating artists.
